The Cold Observant

Drifted away,
it formeth a nucleus elsewhere
capable of detachment from its newly found purveyor
yet never of return to its precedent cohort

Inpenetrable to my loudest screams
they doth not hear them
nor do all else, or even myself
for they exist only in the sphere of my speculation

Bereft of this sound, I recline in freezing silence
aching, shielded by this glacieric barrier
I have not the energy to break it,
nor possess a bodily warmth to corrode its icy obstinance

I may only wait for sunnier climes
Yet it is July; so hopes are not high
The sun beats down, yet my prison does not liquify
I wait; I sit: I freeze
